Cambridge's Charming Coffee Spots

Having grown up in Cambridge all my life, I have been fortunate enough to discover all the wonderful things it has to offer. From picturesque buildings and cobbled streets to punting on the River Cam during the height of summer. But in all honesty, what l treasure most about the beautiful city that I call my home, is the coffee shops that are found within.

So, whether you have lived in Cambridge your whole life, or are simply wanting to explore the area more, then you have come to the right place. During my spare time (which appears to be slightly limited at this precise moment), I like to spend every waking minute of mine sitting in a cafe somewhere in the attempt to block out the real world, even just for a minute or two. Strangely, I find it somewhat therapeutic. So, here are a few of my favourite places to go to. You never know, we might even bump into each other at some point!

Thrive

Located on Norfolk Street, Thrive is definitely one to visit ASAP. You read that right. Cancel all plans and make your way to Cambridge's fully plant-based cafe. Trust me, you won't regret it. Filled with a beautifully staged interior, comprised of featured art pieces that are available to buy, the cafe's calm and welcoming atmosphere attracts anyone, vegan or not. Their chai latte is a personal favourite of mine. In fact, it's so good that it takes me what seems like hours to drink, as I never want it to end. Whether you are seeking delicious homemade cakes and snacks, mouthwatering coffees and hot chocolate, or even fabulous waffles, then Thrive is the perfect place for you.

Stir

Stir deserves an honorable mention. The cafe can be found on both Chesterton Road and in Histon, so there is really no excuse to not stop by. Stir's menu is so varied and delicious, that it will leave you wanting more. You can find any brunch item under the sun, whether it be one of their famous 'Big Brunch Boards' or their smoked salmon benedict, you will certainly leave satisfied. Smiley faces will greet you as you stroll past the fully stocked cake counter, and their skilled baristas will make sure you get your caffeine fix. But, you're someone who prefers a more refreshing drink such as a smoothie or fresh juice, then rest assured Stir will provide.

Bould Brothers Coffee

They have the most charming little spot located on the corner of the Round Church, followed by a much larger space located on Regent Street. The taste of their coffee is something that I struggle to put into words. Silky and smooth, it's so easy to drink it all in one go. If, you are prepared to have the experience over that quickly. On the slightly pricer side, luxury is what you pay for. Packed with a serious amount of coffee, top-quality milk, and made with the skills of their baristas, no wonder their coffee was recommended by Vogue.

Bridges

This family-run business certainly has a passion for serving its customers with the best quality food and drink. Typically, I happen to find myself there on a weekday morning, and without fail order the same thing every time. Their fruity granola bar and a chai latte. No shocker there! Not only is Bridges amazing for freshly made cakes and juices, but their toasted sandwiches are to die for. Providing daily, freshly prepared food and equipped to suit individuals with various dietary requirements, Cambridge is one lucky city to have Bridges on its doorstep.

So, there you have it. Unfortunately, that is where my list must end. There are many other wonderful and quirky places that can be found in Cambridge, but you'll just have to hang on for the next blog to read about those. Plus, I still have a lot of exploring to do myself. In the meantime, the next time you happen to find yourself in Cambridge, be sure to visit one, if not all of these fabulous places mentioned above. Take my word for it, you won't regret it.
